After-school and Summer Camp Programs

New York Nature Mobile brings the wonders of New York’s wildlife to children in after-school and summer camp programs with our engaging classes about the diverse creatures that share our great city.

  • Whales, Dolphins, Seals, and Beavers, Oh My!

Why are dolphins' noses on top of their heads? Are beavers really the engineers of the animal world? Are some whales just picky eaters or do they all need different diets? What do we have in common with aquatic mammals? These and other questions are explored during Whales, Dolphins, Seals, and Beavers, Oh My!

  • Weird and Wonderful Fish

During this program participants explore some of the fish that can be found in New York waters. Do American eels live in the Hudson River for their entire lives? Why is the sturgeon’s mouth located where it is? What makes seahorse dads unusual? Do sharks die when they stop swimming? Discover the answers to these questions and more during this program.

  • Meet Your Furry Neighbors!

Raccoons, opossums, and bats all live in New York. This program helps participants learn about these city survivors. How do we help raccoons? Where do most marsupials live? Why do cottontail rabbits have such big ears? How do bats find their food in the dark? Find the answers to these and other questions during Meet your Furry Neighbors!

  • Invertebrates: Flying, Swimming, and Digging!

Learn about these spineless wonders; some live underwater, some underground, and some have evolved the ability to fly. Are earthworms slimy? How do invertebrates protect themselves? Do jellyfish, sea stars, and oysters eat the same way? Can we help Monarch butterflies? Discover answers during this program!

  • Fabulous Feathered Friends

Why don’t vultures have feathers on their heads? How do Great blue herons hunt? How are bird nests different from each other? Can crows solve problems? What is the fastest animal on earth? Fabulous Feathered Friends helps participants discover the answers to these and other questions.
